The job: A professional education group providing financial education to financial services professionals world-wide is looking for an experienced publishing manager for a maternity cover of up to 12 months, starting in early November. The person appointed will manage the small team of four who are responsible for the delivery of student and membership materials, including print and online textbooks/loose-leaf publications, e-books, eNewsletters and print and online magazines. Key aspects of this role include: management of all editorial and production processes, and channels used to deliver and store publications; management and preparation of individual titles for press/online/other delivery; and management, monitoring and review of production and publications budgets. This is a busy and interesting role that will also involve assisting commissioning staff in creating author briefs and ensuring materials are fit for purpose and will also involve the project management of individual textbook and loose-leaf titles. The person: Our client is looking for an experienced publishing professional with proven editorial experience and experience of print-buying. Excellent management skills and ability to work independently are essential along with strong team work skills. Experience of XML-based production and delivery through virtual learning environments is desirable, as is an understanding of publishing in the areas of Further and Higher Education. Candidates should be highly organised and self-motivated, with excellent written and oral communication skills and a high level of IT skills relevant to publishing, including online and desktop publishing skills. The ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines will be key.
