The job: A well known consumer advice organisation is looking for a Senior Editor join their busy and committed editorial and research team for a period of six months. Reporting to the Head of publishing, the person appointed will be involved in all aspects of the book publishing programme. Primary responsibilities will be devising, commissioning and budgeting new titles and will involve project management, commissioning, liaising with freelancers and authors and maintaining titles post-production, including updates and author queries. Other important aspects of the role will be working closely with Sales and Marketing to formulate and pursue opportunities, managing the marketing schedule of titles and supply material to Sales, Marketing, Publicity and external parties and helping maintain the online books content, optimising traffic, links and sales The person: The role requires a very experienced editor with proven ability, ideally gained in a similar role. Solid experience of managing several projects simultaneously, delivering to timescale and budget is essential. Some experience and knowledge of online publishing would also be very useful. The person appointed will demonstrate very high editorial standards and integrity a great eye for detail and an abundance of creative ideas. They will have excellent business, communication and commercial acumen and ideally some knowledge of CMS/online content and Quark and InDesign skills. The role will suit someone who is an experienced self-starter who demonstrates lots of initiative, is excellent at problem solving and is able to offer strong commercial suggestions for developing the business.
