The job: One of the UK's leading international higher education publishers is looking for an experienced, well-organised Sales Manager who will take responsibility for maximising sales for their book and electronic products across this significant territory. Key tasks will include managing customer relationships, devising strategies for driving sales, and implementing marketing and promotional plans for the company's prestigious publishing programme. Setting and achieving sales targets, building revenues within the specific markets, and reporting on key developments in the marketplace are also important elements of this proactive business development role. The person: Preferably educated to degree level, fluent in written and spoken German and English, ideally with some knowledge of another major European language, candidates will need to be able to demonstrate sound, relevant experience, and a successful track record, gained in a commercial role within publishing or bookselling for academic and professional markets. The successful candidate will also be ambitious and commercially-focused, with the ability to develop strong and long-lasting commercial relationships. The person appointed will have a strong commercial awareness, with experience in deal negotiations. Ability to use initiative, plus confident, influential communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, are important requirements, together with exceptional relationship management ability. A results-focused approach, high commitment and self-motivation are also important attributes for this key position. Regular travel within the territory will also be required.
