The job: A leading professional business and management publisher, with highly respected international lists covering professional, business and student markets is looking to appoint a strategically minded Publishing Services Director as a board level appointment. Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for production and pre-press, including colour, b/w, on-line and on-demand titles, controlling costs, quality and service levels. The primary responsibilities will be Production planning, budget management and control, management of sub-editorial workflows, and supplier management. This significant role will involve working closely with senior Publishing, Sales and Marketing colleagues in the development and implementation of the annual production and publishing plan.

The person: Candidates will need a sound knowledge of book production, experience of both digital and non-digital workflows and a keen interest in IT and how good production management can benefit the business. An excellent organiser and communicator, the successful candidate will need outstanding people management skills and strong financial management abilities, ideally gained within a similar role at a senior level. This would be an excellent opportunity for a strategic thinking production director with a clear understanding of the technological issues, first class process management, problem solving and operational abilities who is interested in making the next step up to a board appointment.
