The job: A world leading publisher of illustrated non-fiction books selling to mass market outlets in the UK, US, Europe and Australia, is looking for a talented Group Editor to lead a team and project manage a list of licensed children's titles for a 6 months maternity cover, starting in mid August. Reporting to the Publishing Director the person appointed will be responsible for managing a group of editors and designers effectively, and for project managing a list of titles, including briefing, budgeting and allocating creative projects; liaising with licensors and out of house contributors; monitoring workload, schedules and quality control and contributing ideas for new or improved processes.

The person: Candidates will need to be experienced editors with both project and people management experience. Experience of Children's publishing and a good understanding of the children's market is essential, and the successful candidate should be able both to commission new titles, and to provide innovative ways of using extensive back list material. Ability to inspire a team to be both creative and involved is also highly desirable. Above all, candidates should be good planners, organisers and managers with ability to plan and monitor the progress all aspects of book production, along with an understanding of the ways to minimise the potential problems.

Salary: Excellent pro rata salary, depending on experience
