Sales Manager

Location: London or Oxford based

The job: A leading independent publisher with an established and critically acclaimed non-fiction list and a rapidly expanding international business is looking to recruit a Sales Manager. This is a new role at the heart of the company which will be pivotal to achieving a dynamic expansion programme and an ambitious business plan that includes a new fiction list, a significant programme of digitalisation together with strong sales growth across all markets. In collaboration with publishers and other key staff, primary responsibilities include building sales, preparing and monitoring budgets and targets, monitoring sales force performance primarily within the UK and US markets and developing special sales. This is an important role within the company that will include presenting titles at home and at overseas sales conferences and representing the company at trade fairs

The person: The ideal applicant will have considerable UK book trade experience and a keen awareness of all the key players. Excellent sales leadership qualities and a proven track record in managing sales representatives in the UK book market is essential. As the role will involve supervising an overseas sales force and key distributors, experience in these areas is also desirable. The person appointed to this exciting and pivotal role will be a first class sales manger who can demonstrate a highly organised, systematic approach to sales management, with strong commercial acumen and outstanding personal drive and entrepreneurial skills.

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience.
