The job: One of the Middle East's leading retail groups, whose operations include retail and distribution, is planning to appoint an experienced Senior Book Buyer to lead and manage the book buying team of 4-5 people, towards further enhancing their business development activities and services. The Senior Buyer's primary role will be to plan and coordinate with all management and support functions, develop category strategy, set plans and direct the category team to achieve these; develop, introduce and negotiate with vendors, fostering and maintaining productive relationships, and working closely with the Marketing team in planning and coordinating promotional activities. The person: Candidates will need at least 3-5 years' experience as a Book Buyer within the publishing sector, with proven strategic planning and management abilities, and capable of taking full responsibility for the buying process management. Successful candidates will ideally be experienced in team leadership and supervision, and able to demonstrate successful relationship management skills. Highly numerate, with confident communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, the person appointed will be a well- organised planner, with the ability to use initiative. A results-focused attitude, strong commitment and self-motivation, plus a positive approach to team-working, are also important attributes for this key proactive role.
