The job: A leading independent trade / consumer book publisher with a highly respected reputation both in the UK and internationally is seeking to appoint a Finance Director initially for period of 6 months. Reporting to the Managing Director the successful candidate will take full responsibility for all the companies financial operations including financial planning and reporting, preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and accounts, business performance analysis and overseeing and developing financial systems, accounting controls and policies.

The person: The successful candidate will be fully qualified and must have worked in a senior financial role within trade / consumer publishing. Experience of working in a smaller, hands-on environment at some stage of their career would be helpful. Strong analytical skills and a good understanding of business dynamics should be accompanied by a clear focus on commercial success. The ideal candidate will have confident communication and influencing skills and a positive team-working style. Most importantly candidates should demonstrate the drive, energy and ability to make a significant contribution to the continuing success and growth of the company.
