The job: A leading international publisher with significant market share in the illustrated & reference book markets is looking to appoint a Key Account Manager (Special Sales) to work on their highly regarded Children's list. The role is for a 6 month contract initially with the strong possibility to extend the contract to up to a year. Reporting to the Head of Special Sales, the person appointed will be responsible for achieving budgeted sales and profit margins, increasing special sales revenues and managing all aspects of key customer relationships to increase and drive sales and grow new business. The job holder will be responsible for developing establishing customers and finding new Special Sales business, conducting all sales negotiations and tying up promotional deals with existing and third party clients and developing awareness of digital mediums as a way of driving revenue alongside printed books. Internally, you will be establishing relationships with editorial and design teams and building relationships with inventory / distribution and assuming full responsibility for the deals from order taking to its conclusion. The person: You will have some relevant experience ideally in a similar Special Sales role. Candidates with a background in publishing sales will be at an advantage but this is not essential. More important is that you are a self-starter with experience of dealing with professional buyers who can develop new business and find new customers. Good product and marketing knowledge and the ability to create brand synergies will be key as will a sound understanding of special sales, business and financial awareness and understanding of costing models.
