The job: A leading Education publisher is looking to appoint an experienced Editor to take responsibility for the development of the Humanities list with immediate focus on Vocational and Applied subject areas including Business Studies, Health & Social Care, Travel &Tourism and Media. The role will involve the commissioning and project management of printed and digital materials. Responsibilities include identifying new contributors, ensuring schedules are followed and deadlines met and helping to set, monitor and control editorial budgets. The person appointed will work in a small team and manage around 20 freelancers. They will be required to proactively manage information flow to and from authors, editors, designers, production and sales and marketing. The person: Educated to degree level or equivalent candidates will need 1- 2 years commissioning experience preferably within a secondary education context. A solid grounding in factual editorial or educational sales or marketing is also required. Candidates with a Humanities background, teaching experience and/ or a Publishing MA or equivalent would be ideal. Working knowledge of Vocational /Applied lists and relevant diplomas would also be very useful. The ideal candidate will be a confident, self starter, a proactive and good humoured editor who enjoys being part of a busy team.
