The job: One of the UK’s leading providers of information and business solutions for professionals is planning to appoint an experienced and highly resourceful Publisher who will take responsibility for developing, planning and implementing the strategic direction of a substantial portfolio of high-profile products for the legal market. The successful candidate will be fully involved in leading and managing the activities, performance and development of the editorial team; managing and delivering budgeted revenue targets; market research and analysis, and driving marketing activity; identifying new publishing opportunities; and handling all commercial aspects of the lists.

The person: Candidates should ideally have a substantial background in portfolio development and product management, particularly for the legal community, with a good understanding of its publishing needs and a sound knowledge of current trends and market conditions in the sector. Strong commercial awareness, effective staff management and team leadership, together with confident, influential communication skills, a positive, results-focused approach to planning, project management, decision-making and problem-solving, plus high commitment and energy, are all key requirements for this proactive role. Candidates who have practised law or who have a law degree will have a positive advantage.
