Business Development and Academic Client Manager

Location: London up to Manchester

The job: A dynamic e-learning publisher specialising in creating interactive learning solutions for higher education and training establishments worldwide, is looking for a Business Development and Academic Client Manager. The main aim of the role is to develop and maintain commercial relationships with academic institutions, corporations, training providers and content owners to maximise sales of proprietary or 3rd party content and software services. Initially the role will focus strongly in the UK university / academic sector. Working under their own impetus with minimal supervision, the successful candidate will be required to travel substantially around the UK.

The person: Candidates will need marketing and selling experience in a target focused environment, strong negotiation abilities and ideally experience of selling books or rights in a college textbook or similar publishing role. Publishing and / or information sector experience, and a good understanding of legal documents, copyright law and publisher sensitivities are also required. Candidates will also need strong analytic abilities and a good grasp of strategic goals accompanied by a good understanding of the opportunities and challenges of software tools in a publishing environment. Good usage of word processing, spreadsheet software and knowledge of data bases are also essential. The ideal candidate will be strongly results focused, robust, mature, and committed and self motivated.

Salary: c. £30k plus OTE
