The job: A newly established educational publisher is looking for a Sales professional to develop UK and International Sales for its new range of innovative and high quality primary teaching materials, which focus initially on ELT and Modern Foreign Language teaching. The successful candidate will develop relationships with schools and Local Education Authorities, and will also manage the distributors and agents, identifying opportunities and negotiating terms in new territories. This is a hands-on role with considerable potential to help establish a new player in this exciting and fast changing market, and will involve UK and some overseas travel. The person: With a solid educational background, at least to degree level, candidates should have a proven record in selling, marketing and business development in publishing. While sales experience in the ELT, education or academic publishing sector may be an advantage, it is not essential, as enthusiasm, drive, and the ability to build good relationships are more important than an established network of contacts. Candidates should be energetic and proactive, ready to learn, and eager to find solutions. This is likely to appeal to a person seeking a move from an established 'corporate' publisher to something more innovative, where there is a real chance to make a difference and get involved in all aspects of a new company, or to an ambitious and enthusiastic sales rep who is ready for a challenge and the next career step.
