The job: A well known professional body in the area of management development are seeking to appoint a Commissioning Editor for their textbooks list. The person appointed will be responsible for commissioning and developing new products, briefing authors, negotiating terms of contract to ensure commercial viability and taking full responsibility for all stages of product development. The role will include researching and identifying marketing opportunities for new titles, editions and brand extensions, assessing and making decisions on unsolicited proposals for possible inclusion in the list and ensuring the organisation offers a well balanced and prestigious list of text books in both print and electronic forms.

The person: Candidates will need significant commissioning or sales experience ideally in the higher education market. A good understanding of the textbook market is essential. Sound commissioning and author management skills and experience of list building are also essential requirements. Strong financial and commercial acumen along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also necessary

Salary: In the range £24k to £28k pa, depending on experience, plus an attractive range of benefits.
