The job: One of the UK's primary international professional publishing organisations is looking for a highly skilled Publishing Manager to play a key role within their Commercial/Legal Practice Area business unit. Reporting to the Business Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the publishing strategy for this significant market area, and managing the product portfolio, including financial planning and delivery. Overseeing the activities and development of a team of publishing editors, working with marketing colleagues on market research, publishing programme development, and marketing strategies, plus identifying and managing business development initiatives, are also key elements of this proactive role.

The person: Candidates should be graduates, with substantial commercial experience, preferably within a professional publishing environment, and ideally have a good understanding of the commercial/legal marketplace. The person appointed will need sound analytical skills; strong communication and author management aptitude; commercial acumen; the ability to prioritise workload; and effective line management abilities. A strategic planner and thinker, a positive team-player, with confident interpersonal skills, plus a results-oriented approach to planning and task management, and strong self-motivation, are also essential personal attributes required for the position.

Salary: In the range £40k to £49k pa, depending on experience, plus an attractive range of benefits
