The job: A major international publisher of children's books which include a number of leading brand names and authors is looking to appoint a National Account Manager. Reporting to the Head of UK Sales, the jobholder will be responsible for meeting and exceeding set targets and margins in their allocated Accounts. You will be developing and maximising sales of titles across a full range of mainly high street retail customer Accounts including selling all new and backlist titles. Key parts of the role include negotiating terms and promotions, monitoring sales turnover and budgets, as well as managing promotional marketing and maximising sales opportunities. You will be a team player and your role will also be to strengthen existing customer relations as well as establishing new ones and generally contributing to establishing a publishing programme that can increase sales potential in your Accounts by working effectively with publishing, creative, production and sales teams to communicate sales information to maximise opportunities. The person: Candidates will need experience of working with major retailers within the publishing industry and be able to demonstrate good communications skills and have a confident approach as well as possess good negotiation and presentation skills; you will be well organised and able to prioritise a full workload working on your own initiative and be able to report market information to the Head of Sales. An ability to influence people at all levels is important as well as having good commercial acumen and common sense. The role will suit a proactive team player who is motivated by creating positive sales outcomes, and is able to work under pressure and thrive in a demanding sales environment.
