The job: A major international academic and professional publisher is looking for an experienced Production Manager to oversee the production department responsible for their Science, Technology and Medicine books. The successful candidate will manage a small dedicated team of production staff, working closely with internal editorial and marketing colleagues, and will be responsible for dealing with offshore suppliers for prepress services, including XML workflow, and for arranging printing of titles. Maintenance of budgets, quality standards and schedules are further aspects of the role, along with helping to develop processes and systems to enhance the production workflow and, where applicable, managing new media products.

The person: Candidates will need a combination of sound technical knowledge, project management experience and people management skills. Experience of 4 colour printing, and / or use of XML would be a distinct advantage. Knowledge of electronic products would also be useful as would experience of working with overseas suppliers.

Salary: c. £31 – 34K depending on experience
