The job: One of the UK's leading international academic, educational and professional publishers is planning to appoint an experienced Editor who will be responsible for managing and developing a section of their Humanities and Social Sciences journals list. Reporting to the Journals Publisher, the successful candidate will be fully involved in managing the annual cycle of a number of journals and working on their editorial and financial development. The emphasis for this role will be on developing the journals' potential, and to retaining contracts to publish society titles. List development, title and financial performance management, plus involvement in acquisitions planning are also important aspects of this busy role.

The person: Educated to degree level, candidates should ideally have journals editorial experience, preferably within the humanities and social sciences subject areas, plus a good understanding of the academic market. The jobholder will need to be confident with financial information, and have experience of budget management. A good eye for detail, plus a highly practical approach to planning and project management are important requirements, together with effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop sound, productive working relationships at all levels. Some travel to meetings and conferences will also be required.

Salary: Up to £28k pa [depending on experience], plus attractive benefits
