The job: A highly respected international publisher of illustrated non-fiction books is seeking to appoint a Publisher and New Business Development Director. Reporting to, and working closely with, the company's US based President, the successful candidate will be fully involved in leading and developing the UK company's publishing activities. They will be responsible for management, direction, development, profitability and co-ordination of all aspects of the publishing programme including full commercial management and business expansion. They will be a senior member of the company's management team working closely with the Editorial, Sales and Marketing, Production and Finance Directors managing the company at a strategic level and on a day to day basis.

The person: Candidates should have a proven background in publishing programme planning and management with a particular focus within the B2C or B2B market sectors. Familiarity with and appreciation of the adult illustrated and non fiction marketplace is essential, a good knowledge of the craft and special interest marketplace and familiarity with the key players would be highly advantageous. The successful candidate will also have sound experience of driving, shaping and managing high profile, high quality products in a competitive marketplace and solid experience of developing and implementing short and long-term strategic business plans. Well developed business sense, judgment and strong commercial acumen will be key. The role requires a highly energized and motivated leader who is confident, influential, highly resourceful and persuasive communicator experienced in conducting high level negotiations and contract management
