The job: A well established highly successful books plus distributor are looking for an experienced, driven individual to join them in the newly created role UK Sales Director with the clear path to being promoted to the board over the short/medium term if successful in the role. Company operates both in the book and non-book trades with a growing sector of their markets being toys, stationary and cards. Reporting to the Managing Director the successful candidate will be responsible for management of all sales activities including managing motivating and developing a team of up to fifty sales people including; Key Account Managers and a Field Sales Team. You will implement an overall sales and marketing strategy as well as personally seeking new Accounts. It is a home based role that will require occasional visits to the head office and distribution center so a location in the Midlands, Greater London or North West would be ideal, however if you are prepared to travel your location will be unimportant. The person: The Company is looking for a very commercially minded and entrepreneurial candidate with substantial sales experience, a proven track record of sales achievement within publishing or a related environment and experience of mass market distribution. General sales management or team leadership experience within publishing would be ideal. Experience of key account management with major trade customers and proven ability to open new accounts and take the business to a new level in terms of sales are essential. The role will require excellent organisational and planning skills, first class listening and communication abilities and strong presentation skills. Ability to lead from the front to motivate and drive a wide mix of sales people will be key. The ideal candidate will be a confident, flexible and team orientated individual with clear ability hit the ground running.
