The job: A leading publisher of illustrated, non-fiction is looking to appoint a creative and experienced Commissioning Editor / Senior Editor to work with their award winning food, wine and cookery titles. This requirement reflects the companies' continued growth in this specialist area. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering their publishing programme, managing titles from concept through to final delivery. Responsibilities include identifying and reacting to emerging market trends, signing new significant, talented author / partnerships likely to lead to commercial success and working closely with sales, marketing and production colleagues to ensure quality products are developed on schedule and to budget. Some management of internal and freelance editorial, design and illustration staff will be involved.

The person: Candidates will need a strong track record of commissioning commercial titles with experience of / exposure to wine, food and cookery. Experience of other key areas of lifestyle publishing, whilst not essential, would be advantageous. Requirements include sound commercial ability, excellent networking, negotiating and contract skills, a good grasp of UK market trends and an informed global outlook. Strong agent contacts will ideally be matched with a significant address book of authors.
