The job: A leading UK and international illustrated book publisher with a reputation for creating innovative, best selling books across a wide range of subject areas, is looking for a talented and highly motivated Publisher. The primary function of this role will be to review the publishing strategy, and prepare a business development plan that will strengthen and invigorate the publishing programme to maximise revenue and further enhance the company’s reputation and market position. Reporting to the Group CEO, the successful candidate will drive and monitor the shape of the lists, take responsibility for financial planning, budgetary management and profit margin achievement, and manage, motivate and develop the publishing team.

The person: Candidates should have a substantial background in publishing, with a proven track record of devising and successfully implementing a successful programme within illustrated book publishing. Highly creative and able to identify and attract established and up-and-coming authors, the person appointed will have sound commercial acumen, the talent to recognise trends, and the vision necessary to exploit gaps in the market. Highly committed, dynamic and focused, they will also have excellent team leadership skills, an aptitude for fostering strong and productive relationships, and the capacity to take an active, supportive role as a key member of the senior management team.
