The job: Our client, a leading, independently owned and highly successful publisher of entertainment and popular non-fiction, has asked us to help them recruit a Deputy Editorial Director. This is a new role created to head up the adult illustrated non-fiction division and reports to the Group Editorial Director. It offers the right candidate an excellent opportunity to lead the publishing programme for an exciting list of Entertainment, Sport, History, Humour, Puzzles & Games, Reference and Lifestyle books. The list has a substantial turnover, roughly half of which comes from new title publishing. The person appointed will be involved in commissioning major projects from the outset. They will be responsible for driving market orientated and innovative publishing, contributing to the overall strategy of the division, managing the internal and freelance publishing teams and delivering budgeted revenue and profitability. . The person: Candidates must be capable of executing large publishing projects on an international scale and must have licensing experience. Proven leadership capability is essential, as is being well organised and a confident decision-maker. You must be highly commercial and creative, with an instinct for publishing, strong consumer focus and effective planning, goal setting and accountability skills. The role provides a superb opportunity for an ambitious, entrepreneurial publisher, who has made a name for themselves in commissioning at least one of the core subjects. Salary:
